About Shepherd of the Desert
Welcome in Jesus Name
If you are new to the area, looking for a church home, or want to attend a worship service or activity, we would be thrilled if you visited our campus. We are a friendly and welcoming congregation comprised of year-rounders and seasonal participants from all over the United States.
Founded in 1961
Shepherd of the Desert was one of the first three congregations in the Sun City area. The developer of Sun City, Del Webb, thought having places of worship would help establish a sense of community. He was right. The churches here have all been a blessing to their members as well as to the community.

Affiliations and the Larger Church:
We are affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and our synod is the Grand Canyon Synod. We believe Lutherans, and all followers of Jesus, are connected to one another in the mystical body of Christ.
